The term semantics is broken down into relating to meaning for example what purpose or role does html element have is a semantic.

Now a semantic markup is meaningful markup which relates to meaning of content for that element. Its ideally used to make code more friendly and tolerable other other applications.

Some example of semantic elements like

<section.>= represents standalone section

<header>= introduces the content

<footer>= represents footer for content

<time>= represents specific period in time.

This lesson was again quite important which it broke down the main components of a page when you look in the info section and explains whats in it.
